Welcome to Florence Melly!

Meet our Headteacher – Mr Leach!

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Governing Body for entrusting me to lead our outstanding school. I am honoured to take on this role and fulfil a lifelong dream of mine. I am delighted that my first taste of headship is at Florence Melly Community Primary School – a place extremely close to my heart. A place that feels like home.

I have loved every minute of my nine years at our school; firstly as a class teacher, a middle leader, a senior leader and now the Headteacher. I am extremely proud of what we have achieved as a team at Florence Melly and I remain determined to ensure that our school successfully builds upon its outstanding Ofsted judgement. I can assure you that our school will continue to provide the best possible education, outcomes and experiences for your children.

I am passionate about providing our pupils with a world class education – all of them – regardless of any barriers they face! I will never settle for anything less – your children deserve the absolute best and I will do everything in my power to deliver that! I want to help create school, working closely with our amazing staff team, that your children are desperate to attend – a place they feel safe and happy – excited and enthralled! A school they can proudly call their own!

I believe strongly in our school’s DREAMS philosophy, both professionally and personally. ‘If you can dream it, you can do it” sits firmly at the heart of everything I do. I write this welcome message to you, realising a dream of my own. I have achieved something I set out to do almost 15 years ago!

I may never have led a school as a Headteacher before but I have deputised for long periods of time as part of my Deputy Headteacher role. Can I reassure you that what I may lack in headship experience, I believe that I make up for in knowledge of our community, our pupils and the families we serve. I am proud to say that I have lived in this community, worked in this community for more than half of my working life and genuinely feel a part of this community. I absolutely live and breathe Florence Melly! I know the school inside out and back to front!

I understand what our school needs to do to further improve and I firmly believe, with the help and support of our pupils, parents, staff and governors, we can make Florence Melly Community Primary School the best school in the country. It has always been my dream to lead this school and I am very appreciative of this opportunity – I intend to seize it with both hands!

I hope that I can count on your support as we move forward.

Mr Leach
