At Florence Melly Community Primary School, we recognise that access to school Twitter accounts (and future emerging social media networks) gives pupils, staff and parents greater opportunities to learn, engage, communicate, and develop skills that will prepare us for work, life, and citizenship. We believe that a school Twitter account is an excellent way for you to stay up-to-date with what has been happening in school on a daily basis and as a way of informing you of future events. It is also a great way of helping our pupils develop 21st-Century technology and communication skills and informing them how to be cyber safe.
As Twitter is web-based we adopt exactly the same rules for our school Twitter account as we do for our school website. No child’s name will be published on the Twitter feed and no photographs of your child will be displayed, if you have not given permission.
Please note that the school will not respond to ‘direct messages’ on Twitter. If you wish to contact the school, please do so via the usual methods.
Our Twitter (Social Media) Acceptable Use Policy is available on the ‘Policies’ page of our website and by clicking this link.
We are always aiming to further improve our home/school links and we hope that you will find this an exciting new initiative. If you have any questions or concerns regarding this matter, please do not hesitate to contact our Assistant Headteacher – Mr Leach, who will be more than happy to discuss it further.
Go on, give us a follow – you’re missing out if you don’t! @flomellynews.
