Welcome to the Flo Melly Family!
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to Florence Melly Community Primary School and to thank the Governing Body for entrusting me to lead our outstanding school. My journey to becoming a teacher actually started here, as a student in 2009, and I fulfilled a lifelong dream of mine when I secured the headship in 2020. Florence Melly Community Primary School is a place extremely close to my heart, a place that feels like home. I am proud to say that I have lived in this community, worked in this community for more than half of my working life and genuinely feel a part of this community. I absolutely live and breathe Florence Melly!
I am so proud to say that I am Headteacher of our fabulous school. In my opinion, Flo Melly is the best school in the world and I have been delighted to witness it continue to grow from strength to strength in 2024/25. Our school is a very special place to work and learn and that is because of our dedicated staff team, the supportive parents and carers and the phenomenal children! Never does a day go by where I am not amazed by the children’s achievements, impressed by their behaviour and attitudes or wowed by their respect and appreciation for one another. The progress they make is incredible and they are an absolute credit to us, their families and themselves. They are the jewels in our crown!
The 2024/25 academic year has been packed full of the most amazing highs! It saw us retain our Ofsted grading – something we are particularly proud of! It’s hard getting to the top but to stay there, well that is a whole new story and level of challenge! But we did it! On top of that, we have been recommended as an Inclusion Quality Mark Centre of Excellence due to our commitment to inclusive practices and a desire to make our school the best place possible for everyone! We want everyone to thrive at Flo Melly. These achievements are only made possible because of the incredible team of human beings I have the privilege of leading; the staff are the people who make the magic happen! Each and every one of them has a passion and commitment for making a difference. They pour every ounce of blood, sweat and tears into ensuring that the children have the best possible opportunities to succeed. They are tireless in their pursuit of providing the children with a world class education – all of them – regardless of any barriers they face! They never settle for anything less – they recognise that they deserve the absolute best and do everything in their power to deliver that! They bring the energy and a culture that your children are desperate to be part of – in a place they feel safe and happy – excited and enthralled! A school they can proudly call their own! They do this by delivering memorable experiences that will be cherished way beyond their time in our school. When my team look at your children, they see their own – they love and care deeply for each them. That’s what makes us extra special!
