Extra Curricular Activities

At Florence Melly Community Primary School, we offer a variety of clubs and activities outside of our regular school day. We aim to:

  • ensure that our curriculum extends beyond the academic, technical or vocational and that it provides for learners’ broader development, enabling them to develop and discover their interests and talents.
  • offer provision that supports learners to develop their character – including their resilience, confidence and independence – and help them know how to keep physically and mentally healthy.
  • prepare learners for future success in their next steps.
  • prepares learners for life in modern Britain by: equipping them to be responsible, respectful, active citizens who contribute positively to society; developing their understanding of fundamental British values; developing their understanding and appreciation of diversity; celebrating what we have in common and promoting respect for the different protected characteristics as defined in law.

In order to achieve these aims, we offer a range of lunchtime and after-school activities that supplement and support children’s learning beyond our vibrant curriculum offer. Clubs are run by a mixture of staff and adults from external organisations and are available across all year groups.

Please use this link to access an overview of the clubs on offer to our children this half-term: Extra-Curricular Clubs – Spring Term 2023. It is our intention that this offer changes every half-term so that all children have the opportunity to participate and get involved. All of our clubs this half-term are free of charge. It is essential that your child is committed to attending the club. Persistent failure to attend may result in them losing their place and it being offered to another child. To secure a child’s place at one of these clubs, please use the online booking form which can be accessed by clicking this link: Online Extra-Curricular Club Booking Form – Spring Term (1) 2023. Please note, this form will only allow you to book places at clubs until they are full. Once the clubs are full, they are removed from the booking form.

We will always allocate places fairly. We are limited to the number of places we can allocate for each club and these differ depending on the type of club (for example, we can take far more children for our Choir Club than we can for a Book Club). We will have a deadline for requests for clubs and then inform parents/carers of which clubs they have successfully been allocated places for. Once all places have been allocated we will hold a small waiting list in case new places become available.

  • Sports club involves a range of different sports including: dodgeball, basketball, rounders, badminton, tennis, benchball and tag rugby (this is not an exhaustive list and new sports are introduced across the academic year).
  • In addition to the after-school Year 6 Booster Sessions on a Tuesday, shorter, targeted booster interventions will take place every lunchtime.
