February Half-Term Free School Meal Arrangements
We have received confirmation from Liverpool City Council, following a request for information around the arrangements for Free School Meal pupils during the February half-term, that they will not be issuing vouchers this half-term. This is because of the value of the vouchers released at Christmas (three times the usual amount plus the fuel voucher) and the alternative provision that they have put in place across the city.
Like in previous half-term holidays, they have instead, set up different activity and food providers across the city (please click here: February half term activity and food providers in Liverpool for a full list of amazing providers). Our closest provider is the Alt Valley Community Trust at Walton Hall Sports Centre. They are running a camp for children aged 5 – 12 years old. They offer an abundance of engaging activities like sports, outdoor explorations, art and crafts and team games. The camp is open every week day from 9:00am to 3:00pm and the children will be provided with a healthy, nutritional breakfast, snacks, drinks and lunch. For more details, please call 0151 523 3472.
If you require additional help, please see Mr Doyle, who can also support families through our own Flo Melly Pantry.
Lastly, Liverpool City Council have launched a new initiative called ‘Get Connected’. In order to help the city recover from the Coronavirus pandemic, they have pledged to help families ‘Get Connected’ to the internet. The ‘Get Connected’ pledge will see families, eligible for benefits related free school meals, which currently do not have a broadband connection, receive a fully funded wireless connection and equipment for one year. To check the full eligibility criteria and to apply, go to www.liverpool.gov.uk/getconnected or call the ‘Get Connected’ team on 0151 233 3073.
